What This Page Covers

Strategic Web Management, the Web Managers Podcast, and this site exist to help accidental web managers do the job with more confidence. This page states what may be reused without asking, what requires a request, and how to reach us when a request is needed. It applies to writers, editors, educators, podcast guests, and anyone else who wants to quote, excerpt, or repurpose material from the book, the podcast, or webmanagers.com.

Quoting and Excerpting

Short quotations are welcome. A passage of up to 200 words from any single chapter, episode transcript, or article may be used in a review, news article, academic paper, or classroom handout without a separate request, provided the source is credited. The recommended credit line reads: "Bryan C. Mills, Strategic Web Management (WebManagers.com, 2026), used with permission."

Full worksheets, checklists, and templates that accompany the book are licensed to the reader who purchased them. Sharing a worksheet with a class or team beyond that single license should go through the request process below.

Requesting Permission for Longer Use

A request is needed for anything beyond short quotation: a full chapter, a translation, inclusion in an anthology or textbook, or use in paid corporate training. Send the intended excerpt or chapter, the publication or program it will appear in, the expected audience size or print run, and the timeline.

Most requests from educators, nonprofits, and reviewers are approved at no cost within ten business days. Commercial and for-profit requests are reviewed individually, and a licensing fee may apply depending on scope.

Podcast and Audio Clips

Clips of up to two minutes from any Web Managers Podcast episode may be shared on social media or embedded in an article, provided the clip links back to the full episode and names the show. Rebroadcasting a full episode on another podcast feed, or monetizing a clip through a platform's revenue program, requires permission first.

A guest appearing on the show may share and reuse their own segment freely. Quoting a transcript follows the same 200 word guideline as quoting the book.

Press and Media Kit

Members of the press covering the book, the podcast, or Bryan C. Mills may use the current cover image, author photo, show logo, and boilerplate bio without asking, provided none of them is altered and none implies an endorsement that was not given. The full media kit, including high resolution files, is available on request.

Artwork from the AW Man campaign, including the raccoon characters, sits under separate licensing. A request to use campaign art should note that specifically.

How to Reach Us

To request permission, Contact Us and include the material to be used, where it will appear, the expected audience, and the date it is needed by. A response should be expected within ten business days.

The goal of this policy is the same as the book's: to help practical guidance reach the people who are managing a web presence for the first time, while keeping the work that produces it sustainable.
